This is a very interesting exchange between the Imam of the mosque and a gentleman who speaks on behalf of some of the 9-11 victim's families. Surprising that it aired on FOX.

Don Norman in "The Design of Everyday Things" (old media, page 147, but available in the Amazon Kindle store) does a nice job at summarizing why QWERTY won--it came to be so that keys didn't jam, and once standard was just too hard to change... http://www.amazon.com/Design-Everyday-Things-Donald-Norman/dp/0465067107/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1272190036&sr=8-1

Jen Dennis says: It's not a QWERTY keyboard, and I find myself doing a four-finger typing method that's not as fast as it could be, but like everything else new, I'm getting faster every day. I have a feeling that eventually we'll be able to customize the onscreen keyboard, to maximize our efficiency.

(Aren't there studies out there on the interwebs about the traditional keyboard not being the most effective?) Anyone want to find them for me?

I guess you could say that I need a 12 step program for Steve Jobs' Kool-Aid, (iMac, MacBook, iPhone, iPods...) so with that as a qualifier, I'm pretty smitten. (Full review here: http://www.wisecontradictions.com/2010/04/a-week-with-apples-ipad.html ) @digitalgris - I've written outlines and many emails with the keyboard. I'm not as fast as on my laptop or desktop, but it's faster than the phone--the big buttons are easy to find. I took it to an all day conference as my primary machine for note-taking/email/surfing and wasn't missing my laptop at all...and the battery just kept on going and going like the Engergizer bunny.

Hollywood is hedging their bets - in case this thing doesn't pan out they want to maximize their profits. Trouble is - cutting corners is the surest way to lackluster acceptance. Then again, Cameron's production was astronomically expensive. I'm not sure Robert Rodriguez could get that kind moeny from the studios nor that kind of marketing budget.

I wonder if TV will deliver? The Masters golf tournament will be broadcast in 3D over Time Warner, Comcast, Cox, and Cablevision although Time Warner will offer it as VOD and may show it in Best Buys as well.
