Planning a party for an 8 year-old girl
Sunday, September 16th, 2007It is hard enough to plan a birthday party but when your daughter gets older she gets more involved. Boys or no boys? “I don’t want a princess party. I want ponies and rides.” STOP! My daughter is going to be 8 soon and we are in the planning stages. She has had the Tea Party, the Diva Party, the Spa Party. “Now what?”, you’re asking. Just my point. If we do boys and girls, the party gets too big; hence, looking into places outside the home to host the party. Bowling alley, local activity center, Inflatable Wonderland. They are all great ideas but all of my daughter’s friends have had them and she wants to be unique. So, here I go online for locations:
Sweet & Sassy does makeovers and cake and presents in their back room. www.sweetandsassy.com
Club Libby Lu does makeovers as well but you have to go to the Food Court or California Pizza Kitchen for food. www.clublibbylu.com
My Party Palace is another princess/diva event place that will do makeup and dress-up, a princess oath or diva oath, cake, plates and presents. www.mypartypalace.com
Michael’s does craft parties in their party room. You bring the cake. www.michaels.com
My Princess Party To Go will ship you costumes, props and games and goodie bags for several different “princess” party themes. www.myprincesspartytogo.com
Then, I found out that my daughter’s dance studio will do parties. They will entertain the girls in a theme of your choice, provide pizza and location. And, as it turns out, it is the least expensive. Another great idea is a local pottery painting studio. They usually have a separate room to do the craft and have cake.
A great website to hear others ideas and their planning tips: www.birthdaypartyideas.com Other moms tell about how they planned their children’s parties from ideas, to homemade invitations to food and games to play.
Still, as I write this, my daughter is still undecided. Good luck planning your little girl’s birthday!
