President Obama
Thursday, February 21st, 2008At first it seemed John would be our next President. The country has seemed more conservative since 9-11 and the red states were effectively mobilized in two elections. What's to keep it all from happening again?
The youth vote. Apparently large numbers of apathetic 18-21 somethings have become energized and are turning out in record numbers and in overwhelming numbers, propelling Obama's campaign. In Wisconsin, women chose Obama over Hillary and Texas is looming large. Tonight's primary debate in that state will be telling.
The youth are opposed to the war politics and fear mongering of the past 8 years (when the youngest voters were only 10) and frankly the country seems ready for a new direction, one that's more focused on issues at home. The evangelists don't seem as vocal and the right is lacking Karl Rove's tactical brilliance.
Obama.
