President Obama

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

At first it seemed John would be our next President.  The country has seemed more conservative since 9-11 and the red states were effectively mobilized in two elections.  What's to keep it all from happening again?

The youth vote.  Apparently large numbers of apathetic 18-21 somethings have become energized and are turning out in record numbers and in overwhelming numbers, propelling Obama's campaign.  In Wisconsin, women chose Obama over Hillary and Texas is looming large.  Tonight's primary debate in that state will be telling.

The youth are opposed to the war politics and fear mongering of the past 8 years (when the youngest voters were only 10) and frankly the country seems ready for a new direction, one that's more focused on issues at home.  The evangelists don't seem as vocal and the right is lacking Karl Rove's tactical brilliance.

Obama.

I Liked Obama Until….

Monday, February 18th, 2008

I saw a report on Lou Dobbs' show comparing the senate voting records of the candidates.  It didn't cover how they voted but rather whether or not they voted at all.

McCain and Obama have voted in roughly 20% of the votes since beginning their campaigns while Hillary voted in about 60%.

These stats warrant further research but it seems Hillary is the most conscientious about her duty to her constituents and at the end of the day, I think conscientiousness is necessary to implement change.
