Airlines aren’t tacking any new charges onto their flights, but the fees
they added last year—for everything from an onboard snack to too large
luggage—aren’t going away.
So it’s a good thing that tech companies are creating products that are
lighter, thinner and more multipurpose than ever before, so you can preserve
your carry-on space for an extra set of flip-flops or a bag of peanuts.
Here’s what I pack when I travel:
IPhone. Sure, I can’t make calls while flying. But I can enjoy my own movies
and music on the flight—and keep up with e-mail and phone once I’ve reached my
destination. It can serve as a camera for those times I forget my real one—and more than once, the maps tool has helped me out when I’ve gotten lost. With the new Kindle app, I can also keep my latest reading right at my fingertips (literally). Once the new BTKeyMini Bluetooth Keyboard becomes available, I may not need to bring my other favorite travel toy…
MacBook. On flights with the family, this often serves to keep the kiddies entertained with their favorite DVDs—though I’m always in fear that turbulence and a cup of juice are going to wreak havoc with this idea. Maybe it’s best to get them their own iPods?
Canon Powershot SD. It’s a sweet, sleek camera that takes amazing pictures. And I kinda like the
blue color. My only wish: I’d like it to be a hair faster at actually taking the shot.
So, what’s on your to-pack list?
