Okay, we’ll admit it. We’re pretty excited about The Avengers movie. It’s the culmination of Marvel’s ingenious idea to keep its character’s continuities and universe throughout their various movies. For the most part, the interconnectedness (that’s a word, right?) of the Marvel movies (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man 2) has remained on the films’ margins – shared minor characters, references to one another, and after credit scenes – but now it’s got its own movie feature, creating the most unique creative character crossover in cinema. It’s even directed by Joss Whedon, the creator of such epic fanboy tv shows as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and Dollhouse (we told you, we were excited).
Now the official trailer is on the Internet, which you can check out below. AND WE ARE REALLY EXCITED! Boy, does it look good.
Okay, so what can we gleam from the trailer? Yes, besides that it’s awesome. First, it looks like Loki from Thor will be the villain… or at least one of them, probably the main (which should make sense considering the after credits scene at the end of Thor). Oh, and Scarlett Johansson is reprising her role as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow from Iron Man 2. We also get to see Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner AKA the Hulk. Then there’s all the witty banter from Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark AKA Iron Man, thanks to some clashing with Chris Evans as Captain America (those two never get along). All in all, it looks amazing.
The Avengers isn’t scheduled to hit theaters until May, but we can’t wait. It could change everything about the superhero movie genre, which is something to get really excited about.
