There’s a Dating App for the Elite and High Profile Looking for Love

The worst part about online dating is people knowing you're online dating. Luckily for those who consider themselves to be too important to be seen on Match.com, a new service is offering a more private way to browse for love. Enter The League, an app that caters to elites who may be concerned about their public persona.

Unfortunately, it's those who are busy running businesses or setting the social scene who would probably benefit most from online dating, which bypasses the need to make time to hit the town in search of a potential babe or beau. And it seems there is interest in an app that offers privacy while looking for love -- The League already has thousands of members on a waitlist hoping for their chance to get in. The app uses an algorithm to look at an applicant's education and career information before making the call whether they're important enough to deserve to be allowed past the velvet rope.

So far, the whole things reads like a snootier version of what's already out there, with a spokeswoman for the app claiming: “If you took the top 20% of Tinder … you’d get The League." The League has also taken to Twitter to woo potential members, posting things like a video tutorial on how to "Find a Girlfriend or Pick the Perfect Wife." Want a better idea of what will get you into this elusive dating club? Here’s a description off their Facebook page:

“Was it your philanthropic contributions or your impressive college sports career? Your killer smile or your east coast private education? That big-shot CEO that you’re friends with on Facebook or the fact that you’re one of the few singer-songwriters in San Francisco and the odds were just in your favor? … While you don’t know exactly what got you in, you do know that the best things in life are the most selective.”

If hanging out with CEOs who graduated from east coast boarding schools and who make tax-deductible contributions at their friends’ charity galas sounds like your dating cup of tea, you can sign up for the waitlist here. If, however, you’re one of the lowly few who likes to have fun on dates, wear sweatpants in public, and spend less than the cost of your child’s education on nice jewelry, you’ve got plenty of others to choose from. After all, even Britney’s on Tinder these days.
