Hillary's Emails and the Iraq War

Hillarys Black Berry 200x108

Let's face it, the biggest reason for having a private email server is to keep prying eyes out of your thoughts and directives. Every administration wants some degree of secrecy. Reagan didn't maintain email records, 22 million emails were "lost" during the Bush administration and Bill Clinton had a side deal set up by the elder Bush to treat emails as personal.

The logic behind chasing through 30,000 emails in the hope of finding one that is classified (there has to be one here somewhere!) reminds me of the logic used to justify invading Iraq - "they certainly have WMD, we just have to find one" (there has to be one here somewhere!).

According to a recent piece in Newsweek:

"There is no indication the emails in question were withheld by Clinton during the investigation, the law enforcement official told Newsweek, nor does the discovery suggest she did anything illegal. Also, none of the emails were to or from Clinton, the official said. Moreover, despite the widespread claims in the media that this development had prompted the FBI to “reopen” the case, it did not; such investigations are never actually closed, and it is common for law enforcement to discover new information that needs to be examined."

In the case of the emails, it's a win-win for the GOP. The odds of finding one classified email in 30,000 are probably better than finding a WMD in the Iraqi sand and it's a whole lot easier and cheaper than invading a country. But there's a huge bonus - even if a classified email is not found, the GOP stands a better chance of getting their candidate who is behind in the polls, elected. And just like in the case of today's Iraq, we will all win, won't we?
